Dutch tv-show Nacht van de Popmuziek is an annual 3-hour show broadcasted on NPO3. This year the show took place for the 12th time, with annual host Matthijs van Nieuwkerk replaced by Dutch rocker and music expert Eric Corton.
The Dutch ‘Pop Professor’ Leo Blokhuis shows and discusses all kinds of never before seen and rare footage with the host and the audience at home. The night is packed with pop music from all ages, collected by Fenno Werkman who is known for his profound collection of over 300.000 music videos and fragments.
A relaxed vibe during the show makes that the audience at home feels involved, but that’s not what actually involved them!
Angry Bytes took care of providing a second screen experience using Play Now! which enabled the viewers to interact with the show, right from their own living room. It showed the audience everything that was going on during the show, inviting them to share their input by tweeting, voting and sharing stories from their own musical history.
This input was visually presented live in the studio using maps with real-time graphs and tweets, providing the hosts with personal input from their viewers, making the show personal and interactive.
This way of including viewers is much appreciated by both tv makers as well as the home audience. Directors, editors and event managers love using Play Now! to really connect with their audiences.
